Distribution: Occurring east of the Cascades crest in Washington; southern British Columbia to California, east to Idaho and Utah.

Habitat: Drier open places, from the foothills to middle elevations in the mountains, often where moist to wet in spring.

Flowers: June-August

Origin: Native

Conservation Status: Not of concern

Description:
General:

Slender annual up to 2.5 dm. tall, freely branched above, usually glabrous.

Leaves:

Leaves palmately 3- to 7-parted into soft, linear segments up to 1.5 cm. long; or the uppermost entire.

Flowers:

Flowers on long pedicels, borne in the forks and terminating the branches; calyx 2-3 mm. long, equaling the capsule, with prominent translucent intervals between the 5 greener segments; corolla white or occasionally pale blue, glabrous, 1.5-2.5 mm. long, equaling the calyx, cleft halfway to the base, the limb 2.5 mm. wide; filaments equal length, glabrous; style 3-parted; ovary superior.

Fruit:

Capsule with 3, one-seeded carpels.
